Jill Rosenwald
Jill Rosenwald's career almost ended as soon as it had begun when, during her very first day peddling ceramic jewelry on the streets of Soho, two female undercover cops demanded that she pack-up and leave and slapped her with a fine. Undaunted by her brush with the law, Jill returned the next day and the next...
Since then, Jill has become one of the most sought after ceramic artists today. Polished and sophisticated, yet radiating exuberance, her one-of-a-kind wares are a perfect fit with top retailers like Barney's, Neiman Marcus, and Gumps. Her pots and platters span the globe from across the U.S. to Japan, England, Africa and Australia.
In designing her richly decorated work, Jill is inspired by the forms and textures of the world around her. Natural and architectural motifs appear on her pieces or she will improvise on a design by Matisse, or reproduce the curves of Indian art. Jill likes to say, "Nothing inspires me quite like color and style!"
