“Since 1982 glass has had a constant presence in my life. Our relationship has been enhanced and explored with some of the world’s glass masters, but predominantly my knowledge of this magic material is built on day-to-day experience and practice in my studio.
This path has led me to a fairly simple artistic approach; trust the glass, have fun, accept mistakes, study nature and search for beautiful forms and colors inherent in glass’ personality.”

Ed Branson's work focuses on the creative glassblowing process. While trained and experienced in a variety of traditional glassblowing techniques, he chooses to stretch his knowledge and experiment as he explores the nature of the glass.
His curiosity and inventiveness have led him to discover many new techniques that he incorporates in his pieces, whether he is working with opaque, transparent, ladled or blown glass.
"I hope that my glass captures the magic of glassblowing and has a unique beauty that communicates with us,” said Branson.
“My creative process is inspired by combining natures colors and forms with the limitless and surprising qualities of glass. During extensive experimentation I employ traditional glassblowing techniques and develop many original and new techniques. The goal of my exploration is to explore more than to create. Mastering this material requires understanding it more than controlling it.
“I am fortunate to spend my life pursuing beauty. I hope that my work, in a small way, can be a positive influence in the world."
Born in North Carolina, Ed now lives in western Massachusetts with his wife and two children. He has renovated an old apple barn into a studio where he designs and creates glass using traditional techniques and tools. He has been selling glass since 1984 and his work is available in some of the most prestigious galleries and shows throughout the United States.
